新年快乐! Year of Ox 2009

新年快乐! It's the year of the Ox 牛.
Does it mean we are going to have a Bull run this year... or simply we need to slog like a Cow...
I'm leaning towards the latter...

As you know, my wife and I were in Taiwan 2 weeks back.
Most, if not all, people in Taiwan are Chinese. We visited their Chinese New Year market during our trip. Guess what...? Very similar to what we have in Singapore Chinatown. All Chinese in the world celebrate the same huh.

My wife wanted to visit Chinatown when we came back to Singapore... my reaction? "No thanks"
Isn't this visit to Taiwan market enough...??

I dun fancy Chinese New Year nowadays... (sad to say); not that I will start to give angbao for the first time in my life during Chinese New Year after I got married.
I dun really felt the excitement I used to have when I was younger when New Year was a time to gamble "legally"... collect angbao... gathering with relatives...
Maybe it started when I started to work? Can't really remember... Or maybe when people kept asking... "How's your school?", "How's your work?", "When you getting married?"...etc. Now it will be "When you having baby?!" Haha...

Well... can't blame people for asking after not meeting up for a year huh. I bet I was doing the same thing to others... :p Similar to all part of the world for Chinese... there is always a desire to strike rich... 恭喜发财! Huat arh!

Most importantly... 万事如意，身体健康!

A treasure (Meat-like jade) supposedly from Forbidden City 紫禁城

This is one of my wife and my favorite art piece. The 3-layer meat is craved from a jade. So real... Like what it's description said... sometime it's more amazing how real a simple item was created. Feeling hungry for meat bun? It is not the actual piece though, it's a replicate at the souvenir shop. We cannot take pictures inside the museum lor. :(

We went to the 101 Building during one of the night. Impressed by the super fast lift which take you to 89th floor in just 45sec... How long do you need to climb 89th storey of stairs? 30min?!?

台灣游 (Taiwan Trip) I

I'm back from Taiwan! Been to Taipei (台北) for the last 1 week for honeymoon. :)

It's being a relaxing trip with no work in mind... :)

But there has been some fair amount of walking and the weather is cooler than expected...

Honeymoon - Taiwan?

Next week my Dear and I will be going to Taiwan for a week.
Honeymoon?? Sort of...

Was planning to go Europe for honeymoon earlier but the trip was cancelled due to poor response (not that I didn't want to pay :p). But of course subsequent downturn changed our mind as well. I'm using my Krisflyer points to claim the air tickets so the cost should be slightly cheaper I guess. It's free and easy, therefore quite a number of planning need to be done. :(

Why Taiwan? Well, my wife want to go there for a while, so...

Now I can try my favorite oyster noodle at the Shilin Street! Real stuff, can't bluff! :)~~

Happy New Year 2009!

It's another year... Times really fly.

I did a quick search on my old postings on last year's new year event and resolution; it feels like I just wrote them yesterday. Ha... Next year 2010, I will say the same thing again!

The different between this year and last year is... I was counting down at Marina with my then-GF (now wife) but this year we counted down in the comfort of our home.

Resolution for 2009?? Err... forget it...
Strike TOTO lor. Huat ah!
