Evolution of Mobile Phone

I was just talking about my wife's new mobile phone on the earlier post. An iPhone I got for her.
That triggered me in looking back on the number of phones and models I had previously...
Back in memory lane...

Nokia 6110...
My first ever mobile phone more than a decade ago! Bought this phone after working for 1+ year. That was the starting boom time for mobile phones, it's a trend! I remembered paying $688 for this. Still felt that it's money well-spent as I like this phone very much among the rest of the models during that time. Though Ericsson was the most famous brand at that time, I preferred this. Remembered that battery life was one of my biggest criteria.
This phone accompanied me for around 5 years including my 3 years in NTU. Long service award!
Nokia 6510...
Once I graduated from NTU, my first phone was almost beyond recognition. I was using rubber bands to keep it in working condition! It's time to get a new one...! 6510 is still one of my favorite phone I owned to-date. Classic! People were looking for smaller and smaller phones. It's simple and stylo. I could have used it forever... but I was tempted by the ever-changing new features on new phone technology; reason why I bought the next phone after 2 years. The other day I was still wondering if I can try using back this 6510! Retro!

Ericsson K700i...
I bought this for the "camera" feature. If you look at the phone you will know why. But this phone turned out to be the least popular model I ever owned. I got tired about the look after a while (~1year). Maybe it's the silver colour... and I was more used to the Nokia UI. Time to move on...
Samsung SGH-E730...
I was watching some of the US TV series. Everyone in the show seem to be using a flip (clam shell) phone. The movement of flipping when answering the phone was so stylo... haha. The next thing you know, I'm getting a flip phone! I wanted to revert back to Nokia but Samsung was considered the leading brand for clam shell. So Samsung it will be...
I was still using this phone till few weeks back. Another long servicing phone (4~5 years)! Still like it!
Nokia E61...
I got this mobile due to work, for email purposes. The blackberry or smartphone set was limited during that time, so I can only get this model for free. Looks quite ugly and always associated with calculator! haha, yes it really looked like one. It forced me to hold on to 2 phones during that time. This phone for weekday emails and my Samsung for the weekends usage. And I was waiting for a better model to get rid of this... Not a popular model as well...
Nokia E71...
Next came this model, a later model from E61. A much better looking and slimmer phone. The choice was clear... Get it! I was so happy to be able to carry 1 phone instead of 2 now. Currently still using this. However there was a short period when I was carrying 2 different phone number thus 2 phones (this E71 and Samsung SGH 730) again for some reason. This model has so far served me well, so much so that it took me quite a while to consider whether to replace it with an iPhone.
iPhone 3G...
Well... It's not my next phone... nearly though.
Ended up I got this for my wife and I just use it for surfing and play game whenever I got the chance.
What's next...?? Technology... it's quite impressive how the mobile phones had come along...

CHANGE

CHANGE...

Well... I'm not referring to the Obama's campaign slogan (below).
But rather, I'm referring to the changes in quite a number of home appliances at my home recently...

- A new Refrigerator!
- A new 40" LCD TV!

- A new Handphone... iPhone!
Do I need a new fridge?
Well... probably as the old one was with us since we moved in 8~9 years back and it's making some noises at times. The noise was more obvious when I watch TV in the living room at mid of nights. (I might have got used to the "music" though) The fridge was also a old one given to us when we just shifted. We got a slightly bigger one so that we can store more items as well.
Do I need a new TV?
Well... probably NOT as the old one is still working perfectly fine. Then why did I buy a new one then?? It's for my wife; as simple as that. She had been pestering me for a bigger TV, saying the existing 27" TV is too small. I was reluctant for a long time but eventually gave in just because I want to make her happy... Noble? Caring? Touched?
Well... I meant it since I can also afford it. Then I was watching the first programme that night... Spurs vs Blackburn where Spurs won 3-1! Hmm... feels like at White Hart Lane! Haha... Looks like I benefited as well. :p
Old 27" CRT TVNew 40" LCD TV (Spot the differences...)
Do I need a iPhone?
Well... Not really... though I was fancying it after seeing some of my colleagues have it. I was still wondering whether to get it or not when my wife's hp "happened" to be spoilt at this same time... What a coincidence?? Conspiracy theory...
Somehow her old hp dropped into the toilet bowl... yah right...
Therefore I ended up getting an iPhone under my name for her usage. What a deal man...?

So now you can guess who is the happiest person after the CHANGE?
Not the Americans but rather someone in my home...
