OUR very own 1st car... finally!

Yes! Finally!

We (My wife and I) bought our very own 1st car today!

It's been a long way... (at least what I felt)
I used to drive a Nissan Sunny but that was a family car (mentioned in one of my earlier June post). That was in fact the 2nd family car my parents bought last time. In both cases, they were Nissan Sunny. Ha... somehow my parents had a liking on Nissan. :p

It was on June08, after 17years of loyal service, that I scrapped (or rather sold) the Sunny away... Well, the car was having some issues and I had problem with the fuel price... :(

It was kind of funny... I was about to get married that time in Sept08, when I would need transportation the most for wedding preparation. But somehow I scrapped the car just 3 months before that. I still remembered my then-GF and I were travelling on our foot, bus or cab to run errands. Tough...

My search of a new car started only after Sept08, one month after my marriage.
Then, I was already without a car for around 4 months. Well... life went on.

But the desire for car grew... I remembered when I was young, I always said "My 1st car will be a Honda..." During Oct08, as I started to scout for car, I noticed the Mitsubishi Lancer EX for it's appearance. I was even prepared to buy it; giving up my "Honda Dream". Err... Honda cars (Civic or Jazz) were always a few notch up in pricing. -_-'''

Somehow... my Lancer did not happened. Feedback on engine noise was the "killer"... I test drive a couple of time... always disappointed...

The search went on... Nov... Dec... Jan09... Feb...

I started to feel the impact without a car... Going to customer sites had becoming a headache... Had to rely on colleagues for a ride or take a $20+ taxi ride. Worst... even when you have $, there is no cab! Damn frustrating!

Then I decided to look for 2nd-hand cars... And now it must be a Honda... To be specific, Civic.
I was exploring the Hybrid model as well; go green! But things just did not worked out... :(

Mar... Apr... May... I was exhausted... Car prices going up...

It's was at the brink of giving up (haha... like real? like drama storyline) when Kah Motor had some kind of promotion. I jumped onto the opportunity and got a brand new Civic instead! Even my wife was surprised by my change of heart! :p
From new Lancer to 2nd hand car... from hybrid to petrol... from 2nd hand car to new Civic...

Ha... pretty tired to shop with me huh... :p

Well... I would not have done that decision without my wife's back up (approval and most importantly... financially :p) Ha...
Yes... We will be paying a premium for a Honda car... but it definitely has it's reason. Performance, reliability, reputation... etc. If not, there wouldn't be so many of them on the road, right? Ha

......When I was young, I always said "My 1st car will be a Honda..." Yes...!!

I realized that this post is quite long... that is actually how long I had wait...? :p

AFC Champions League!

Champions League Football in Singapore!
Well... not the UEFA Champions League you are thinking... Not Man Utd... not Arsenal... not Barcelona... not Chelsea either. But rather it's the AFC Champions League match between Singapore's SAFFC vs Shanghai Shenhua.

It's been a long long time since I last saw a "live" game in a stadium. I remember the days when my bro and I went to the National Stadium to watch Malaysia Cup! It's always jammed packed with ~50,000 fans! Long gone the days after Singapore pulled out of the tournament. S-League was never able to attract lot of soccer fans. I was just mentioning these to my colleagues, and next thing I know they jio a few of us to go watch the AFC Champions League match at Jalan Besar Stadium. I agreed immediately (well... after getting "visa" from wife :p).
The stadium was built for ~6,000 capacity, but only around ~2,800 fans turned up for the game. Should already be considered a good attendance by recent S-League's standard.Unfortunately it seem like the Chinese team got more supporter than the Singapore... How sad... Maybe the Chinese were more vocal and made their presence felt. The home team scored first! I was up from my seat punching the air! Hmmm... apparently I'm the only one up on my feet... But I did hear cheers though. It was not like last time, whenever the Singapore National Team scored everyone will be screaming and jumping. The Shanghai team was the favorite, and they did have their fair amount of chances.
The game ended 1-1 with the visitor scoring the equalizer in the last 5min... :( What a waste. But I felt the SAFFC (Warrior) did well. Well done! And I made $1.75 profit from Singapore Pool after deducting my $5 ticket! :p

Swine Flu?!?

Be it "Swine Flu", "Influenza A" or "H1N1"... we will be hearing a lot of these in the coming weeks and months...

Yes, the outbreak of the flu which had already took some lives in Mexico seem to have started at other countries as well...

Though Singapore has yet to have any reported case, given the "little red dot" being an "open" nation, I fear we might soon be hit...
Hopefully the country's SARS experience back in 2003 can help to prevent or contain the disease.

Meanwhile, I'm doing what I could. Digging out the stuffs (thermometers, masks) got few years back... Just got some hand sanitizers too.
This is going to be a common sight again...
Let's fight this flu together! Do your part... Be responsible for your personnal hygiene.
