I mentioned about my car before... How it skid and crashed around a year ago...
I complained about oil prices before... How prices shot up during the last couple of months...
What I might not have mentioned are the car repairs I had in between where I spent near to a thousand dollars...
What I also did not mention is the frustration of more ERP gantries and increase of charges (though I might not have been affected that much since I seldom travel past them).
Recently the car broken down again... in the time when I might just need a car for wedding preparation?
I gave some deep thought for a few weeks.. Decided to scrap the car which has served my family for 16 years... It's a combination of everything. The frequency of breaking down, oil prices, maintenance costs...etc. My Mum and GF seem supportive of the idea.
I was making a few calls last 2 days and now I'm handing over the car keys to the buyer(dealer) on Monday morning. It was just a matter of 3 days... That's it. It's that simple... Too simple for my liking... :(
I have a sudden feeling of sadness... It's like having a pet which is dying of old age...
I was spending some moment with the car. Removing important stuffs from it (CDs, cashcard, accessories). Guess what I found? Some old song cassettes! You don't listen with these nowadays. I wonder if some of the kids actually see one of these before?! These are the ones which my family used to listen to even on our previous car. I could still hear some of the songs replaying in my mind. (Sigh... sign of getting old).
The car... 16 years.... part of my life (times when I drove to school, NS, dating) , memories together with my family including my late Father. When I shifted (few years back) from my old flat which I spent over 20 years growing up in, I had similar sentimental.
One thing that the car did not provide was the number to strike 4D. Ha... Cannot recall a single time the number came out. I was betting BIG amount on this weekend (the last one) to see if the car bring me any last luck. Unfortunately, no again... Perhaps it's mission was to serve us from point to point, not 4 auspicious numbers.
Take care, pal...
